How many porta potties do you need for an Irving event?
A 500-guest, 4-hour event in Irving needs at least 5 porta potties under the city's special event code, and the PSAI chart agrees. If alcohol is served, add 1 unit for every 4, for a total of 7. Irving also requires 1 hand wash station for every 4 toilets, placed within 20 feet.
Irving is one of the few North Texas cities that writes restroom counts into its code. Section 33B-14 sets the minimum for any permitted special event. These are selected rows:
| Daily attendance | 1 hour | 4 hours | 8 hours | 10 hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 50 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| 101–250 | 2 | 3 | 6 | 8 |
| 251–500 | 3 | 5 | 7 | 8 |
| 501–1,000 | 5 | 8 | 10 | 12 |
| 1,001–2,000 | 8 | 17 | 19 | 20 |
Irving's coordinator may ask for more units when attendance passes 10,000, the event runs over 10 hours, or alcohol is served (§33B-14(b)). The code also requires "a hand-wash facility within twenty (20) feet of every portable toilet at a minimum ratio of one (1) hand-wash facility for every four (4) portable toilets" (§33B-14(c)). What sets the price of a porta potty rental in Irving?
Five things set the price of a porta potty rental in Irving: the unit type, the rental length, the servicing schedule, the delivery distance and timing, and the number of units. Your itemized quote shows each of these as its own line, plus Texas sales tax, so you see the full cost before you book.
- Unit type. A standard unit costs least. Flushing units, wheelchair-accessible units and restroom trailers cost more.
- Rental length. Events are priced per event (usually up to 3 days). Job sites are billed per 28-day cycle.
- Servicing. Weekly service is included on long rentals. Extra visits for heavy use or heat are added per visit.
- Delivery distance and timing. Delivery and pickup is one charge. Same-day delivery adds a fee.
- Quantity. Several units on one delivery share one trip, so the per-unit cost drops.
Every quote also lists what is included: delivery, placement, pickup, toilet paper, hand sanitizer and weekly service on long rentals. It lists what costs extra: same-day delivery fee, extra service visits, moving a unit on site, and damage or blocked access. See the full porta potty rental cost guide for sample quotes.
How is a rental porta potty cleaned and serviced?
A rental porta potty is serviced once a week on any rental of 7 days or longer. Each visit includes pumping the waste tank, scrubbing the seat and walls, adding fresh deodorizer, and restocking toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Units are cleaned and inspected before they leave our Irving yard on Belt Line Road.
What happens on each service visit
- Pump the waste tank fully.
- Wash the seat, urinal, floor and walls; wipe the door handle and latch.
- Add fresh blue deodorizer to the tank.
- Restock toilet paper and sanitizer; refill sink water on deluxe units.
- Check the door, latch and vents. Report any damage to you right away.
When to add a second weekly visit
Dallas–Fort Worth's normal July high is 95.6°F, and DFW averages about 20 days a year at 100°F or more (NWS Fort Worth). Heat makes odor build faster. We suggest a second weekly visit for any unit used by more than 10 people a day from June through September.

How many porta potties does an Irving construction site need?
An Irving construction site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 porta potty under OSHA rule 29 CFR 1926.51. Sites with 20 to 199 workers need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers. Our standard unit includes both, so one unit covers each set of 40.
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum (29 CFR 1926.51 Table D-1) | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 20 or fewer | 1 toilet | A 6-person roofing crew needs 1 unit |
| 20 to 199 | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers | 85 workers ÷ 40 = 2.1, round up to 3 units |
| 200 or more | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers | 260 workers ÷ 50 = 5.2, round up to 6 units |
That is the legal minimum. For crews working past 10 hours a day or 6 days a week, we recommend 1 extra unit or a second weekly service.
Read the official text at eCFR: 29 CFR 1926.51. Builders who need a building permit in Irving apply through the city's Building Inspections page. See our construction site toilet rentals for high-rise and multi-phase jobs.

Questions Irving renters ask before booking
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty in Irving?
Our 2026 estimates for Irving: a standard porta potty for a 1–3 day event runs about $150–$225, and a standard job-site unit runs about $140–$210 per 28-day cycle with weekly service. Delivery and pickup is usually $45–$110, based on distance. Flushing, wheelchair-accessible units and trailers cost more. Your itemized quote is the final price.
Can you deliver a porta potty today?
Yes. We offer same-day porta potty delivery across Irving. Call before noon and we confirm your delivery window on the call. A same-day fee applies. Scheduled orders arrive the next business day or on the date you choose.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
No. Mark the spot, leave the gate open or share the code, and keep the path clear. We text when the unit is placed.
Is weekly cleaning included?
Yes, on rentals of 7 days or longer. Each visit includes pumping, cleaning, deodorizing, and restocking toilet paper and sanitizer. Need more visits? Call and we add them.
What if my party is on a Saturday?
We usually deliver weekend event units on Friday and pick them up Monday. That extra time costs nothing more. Tell us your event time so the unit is in place early.
Can a porta potty sit on the street in Irving?
Only with city approval. Irving's special event code lists placing portable toilets on public property as an activity that needs a permit. On private property, such as your driveway or yard, no city permit is needed for a normal rental.
How is “monthly” billed?
Long-term rentals bill every 28 days, not by calendar month. Billing stops the day you call to end the rental.
